The Ultimate Guide to Tennis in Round Rock

Courts, Communities, and Coaching

Quick guide

Find your court, meet a hitting partner, and make the most of a week of tennis just north of Austin. Five useful starting points for a first visit or a new routine:

Old Settlers Park

The Tennis and Pickleball Complex has 17 lighted tennis courts at 3443 Aten Loop. Unreserved courts are first come, first served, but programs and leagues use substantial blocks. Check the city schedule (roundrocktexas.gov) or call 512-218-5540 before an evening visit.

Reserve at WilCo

Book the public Williamson County Tennis Center at 210 Borho Drive through RippnerTennis (rippnertennis.com). The posted fee is $4 per player, with reservations opening up to 48 hours ahead.

Visitor and player FAQ

How can I find players at my level?

For casual rallies and matches, introduce yourself through the Round Rock Tennis League and its WhatsApp group (roundrocktennis.com). For recurring doubles, leagues, and tournaments, try the Round Rock Tennis Association (rrtennis.com). For an Austin-area USTA team, submit your level to the Tennis Austin player directory (tennisaustin.org). Include your NTRP level or playing experience, preferred format, and a proposed court and time.

What works best for a visitor who wants a match this week?

Use the RRTL WhatsApp link (roundrocktennis.com) before you arrive. Its organizers welcome friendly practice and list Old Settlers Park as a regular meeting place. Offer two or three time slots and say whether you want points or a rally. Once you have a partner, reserve WilCo (rippnertennis.com) or check the Old Settlers schedule (roundrocktexas.gov). Organized league courts are for that league’s players.

How do I secure courts during a seven-day stay?

Book the public, paid Williamson County Tennis Center (rippnertennis.com) as each date enters its 48-hour window. For flexible play, use unreserved courts at Old Settlers Park (roundrocktexas.gov), with neighborhood parks as backups. The city does not publish a simple seven-day tennis pass or a tennis-court price on its complex page; call 512-218-5540 for current details. HOA and school courts are not dependable visitor options.

How do I join a private or group lesson?

Register for a class or request a private session through Mack Phillips Tennis Academy (phillipstennis.com). At WilCo, choose an adult or junior program or book a coach through RippnerTennis (rippnertennis.com). The city lists youth programs and adult clinics through Round Rock Parks and Recreation (roundrocktexas.gov). Ask where to meet and whether court use is included in the price.

Where should NTRP 2.0–4.0 players begin?

At roughly 2.0–2.5, try a beginner clinic at Mack Phillips (phillipstennis.com), RippnerTennis WilCo (rippnertennis.com), or the city (roundrocktexas.gov), then invite classmates to rally. At 3.0–4.0, contact RRTL (roundrocktennis.com), RRTA (rrtennis.com), or the Tennis Austin team directory (tennisaustin.org). RRTL says its tournaments are aimed at approximately 3.0–4.5 players, while friendly matches welcome other levels.

Why Round Rock is worth a tennis trip

Round Rock pairs a new 17-court lighted municipal complex with neighborhood courts, a bookable county tennis center, local leagues, and coaches. The Old Settlers complex opened in April 2026, with parking and room for community and tournament play. It is a practical meeting point for players from Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Georgetown, and Austin. See the city project description (roundrocktexas.gov) and local league court page (roundrocktennis.com).

RRTA (rrtennis.com) posts leagues and social tournaments; RRTL (roundrocktennis.com) coordinates practice and challenge matches. For October 2026 visitors, RRTA lists a doubles tournament at Old Settlers Park on October 24–25. Check registration and court allocations on its site.

A practical seven-day plan

  1. Before arrival: Share your level and dates in the RRTL group (roundrocktennis.com), and check RRTA events (rrtennis.com).
  2. Each morning: Look 48 hours ahead for a WilCo booking (rippnertennis.com) if you need a firm match time.
  3. For flexible play: Check the Old Settlers court allocation (roundrocktexas.gov), especially for weekday evenings.
  4. For coaching and introductions: Try a group clinic at Mack Phillips (phillipstennis.com) or RippnerTennis WilCo (rippnertennis.com).

Courts

The main public choices are outdoor hard courts. City and county sources provide the clearest court counts. Confirm smaller parks’ lighting and conditions locally before relying on them for evening play.

Public courts in and near Round Rock

Old Settlers Park Tennis and Pickleball Complex (roundrocktexas.gov) — 17 courts

3443 Aten Loop, Round Rock, TX 78665

All 17 outdoor tennis courts are lighted; two can be converted for extra pickleball courts during tournaments. Unreserved courts are first come, first served. City programs, RRTA, USTA, and other teams have posted reservations. Call 512-218-5540 for scheduling. The complex page (roundrocktexas.gov) does not state a walk-up tennis fee. Use Aten Loop for the courts; the park’s general Palm Valley Boulevard address covers a much larger area.

How to read the Old Settlers schedule

The city schedule (roundrocktexas.gov) lists RRTA on Monday through Thursday evenings, Women’s Team Tennis of Austin on selected weekday mornings, USTA on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, and city instruction on selected courts. These blocks reserve particular courts, rather than necessarily closing all 17. Unreserved courts are first come, first served. Check the live schedule before traveling, especially during tournaments.

Resident and private courts

Some courts on general tennis maps belong to residential associations. Forest Creek HOA (sites.google.com) limits its courts to HOA members and does not sell memberships to nonresidents. Teravista (teravistatogether.com) says its two community tennis courts, one in Round Rock and one in Georgetown, require a resident amenity key fob. Visitors need an eligible host.

Community, leagues, and local players

Round Rock groups

Round Rock Tennis Association

Adult leagues, registration, and tournaments centered on Old Settlers Park. The RRTA site (rrtennis.com) posts announcements. Its contact page (rrtennis.com) lists info.rrtennis@gmail.com and a Facebook community. Ask about a suitable league, substitute spot, or social event.

Round Rock Tennis League

Practice matches, singles, doubles, challenge matches, and spring and fall competition. Its about page (roundrocktennis.com) links to a daily-activity WhatsApp group and says tournament play is aimed at approximately 3.0–4.5 players.

USTA and Austin-area teams

Tennis Austin, formerly CATA (tennisaustin.org), coordinates Austin-area tennis and USTA league connections. Its player directory (tennisaustin.org) helps players seek teams. USTA Texas (usta.com) explains NTRP-based adult leagues and local coordinator contacts. These options suit residents and longer stays; a visitor can usually arrange a casual match faster through a local group.

People behind the local scene

RRTL identifies Zulifqar Ahmad as founder and executive director and Usman Qureshi as co-founder and committee chairman on its leadership page (roundrocktennis.com). Its 2025 results (roundrocktennis.com) list Badar Usmani atop its yearly cup standings.
